Chemical recycling is a method that depolymerizes waste PET bottles under specific reaction conditions to produce valuable chemical products, such as low-grade fuel gasoline.
Physical recycling refers to the process of re-pelletizing waste PET bottles through separation, crushing, washing and drying treatments. There are two main physical recycling methods:
The first is to shred waste PET bottles into flakes, separate HDPE, aluminum, paper and adhesives from PET, and then wash, dry and pelletize the PET flakes.
The second is to first mechanically separate non-PET impurities such as bottle caps, bases and labels from waste PET bottles, followed by washing, crushing and pelletizing.
